properties | p-methyl cinnamic acid is insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ethyl acetate. There are two types: high and low. The high melting point type is needle-like crystal. Soluble in hot water, ethanol and benzene, insoluble in petroleum. Melting point 198~199 ℃. The low melting point type is flake or needle crystal. Easily soluble in ethanol, ether, carbon disulfide and chloroform. Boiling with dilute hydrochloric acid can turn into a high melting point type. |
use | p-methyl cinnamic acid can be used for daily chemical essence and pharmaceutical intermediate. |
preparation method | p-methyl cinnamic acid can be obtained by the reaction of 2, 4-dimethylbenzaldehyde and malonic acid |
biological activity | 4-Methylcinnamic acid, a cinnamic acid analog, can be used as an intervention catalyst to overcome antifungal tolerance. 4-Methylcinnamic acid can increase the potency of cell wall disrupting agents. |
